Poetry of Kansas Here & Now, There & Then

Dad loved fishing more than anything
Jumped in with his net to keep that 14-inch brown from getting away
Winning me
the rod

That was then the fishing
Not so different now the longing
The feel of sun sand water wind

Gathering stretching filling unfurling slow & deep with the breath
Away from pressure performance past post haste
Towards stillness open held heart here now
