Poetry of Kansas Here & Now, There & Then

We sleep beneath your square fields,
amid the jagged flint and limestone cliffs,
with 500 generations of ancestors.
We bid you this: Scan the skies for stars,
but look no farther than your feet for stardust.
Know enough before your journey.
Struggle with intention.
Listen to the wisdom of the South Wind
as she whispers through cottonwoods.
Be grateful.
