Poetry of Love, Resistance, & Solidarity

Come see the Kansas plain, flat-line
in the EKG of America, lull between
fallen Alleghenies and resurrected
Rockies. Come see the emptiness
as a truth, a heaven, a spirit’s freedom, opportunity
that spreads across the sky as color and begets clowns.
In Sedan, the local grocer gives Emmett Kelly Museum tours.
When you call, he leaves his small store, weary shelves
of Campbell’s and Windex. He takes off a plain apron, walks
across Main Street, looks back at his store, at Kansas.
