88. To the Stars Through Difficulty: Nicholas Ward

Her best compositions came late in the fall
We heard the conduction through flatulent ears
Fed her so little and kept her soul wanting
We were someone else then
Before the high-horse and prescriptions of grid
How the old poems do rattle the rafters
In the hayloft of our years
We stared at each other
With borrowed tongues
Licking the earth
